The Great North Air Ambulance is offering the opportunity for one lucky person to win a flight in its helicopter.
The service has launched Power Up, its latest fundraising campaign.
Paula Moore, event fundraiser, said: “2020 was obviously not the year we expected it to be, and it hit the charity really hard.
“It’s estimated we lost more than £100,000 a month because of the pandemic, so now we’re calling on our supporters to power up their fundraising to help us bridge the gap left by COVID-19 and ensure our helicopters can continue to power up every day.”
Power Up is designed to be accessible to everyone, with participants being able to choose what type of fundraising they take part in.
Paula said: “There are so many ways people can power up to support us. If you love gaming you can power up your console and stream, for those who tried their hand at banana bread during lockdown, you can power up your oven and bake, if you like to be active, power up your legs and run, swim or cycle. The possibilities are endless.”
Participants will be offered GNAAS themed incentives for reaching certain fundraising targets, including socks, a Power Up T-shirt or hoodie, and an airbase visit, but those who raise £500 or more will have the chance to get an exclusive flight in the charity’s aircraft.
Paula added: “We’re hoping the incentives will help spur people on to raise vital funds for our charity, especially when there’s a helicopter flight up for grabs.
“For those who are not able to fundraise but would like to donate, you can still be entered into the draw to win a flight in the helicopter if you donate £500 or more and specify it is for Power Up.”
Power Up will run until January, and participants can fundraise any time in those months.
