After two successive defeats, Workington Town won 35-18 at London Skolars to put the pressure back on Barrow.
Although Barrow still narrowly lead Town at the top of League One if the south Cumbrians lose at Rochdale tomorrow, Workington will be back as leaders with one game to go.
Congratulations were in order again for Town half-back Carl Forber, who in kicking five goals took his Town points tally to 2,003.
Coach Chris Thorman said: “It’s a great achievement to reach 2,000points for one club and so pleased it came within a much better team performance from the lads.”
Town had gone ahead on 14 minutes when Rhys Clark barged over for the opening try with Forber putting over the first of his five goals.
A Brad Holroyd try was followed by Forber’s conversion and a penalty, while second touchdown helped Town into an 18-0 half-time lead.
Within ten minutes of the resumption, though, it was 18-12 as tries from Lameck Juma and Paulos Latu were both converted.
Town needed to regain the momentum and they got it when Conor Fitzsimmons got on the end of a Jamie Doran kick and Forber added the extras.
On the hour Town again put daylight between themselves and their hosts when Matty Henson scored for Forber to convert.
Michael Sykes gave the Skolars hope with a try on 68 minutes, which was again converted.
But in the closing stages Holroyd landed a field goal and Doran added an unconverted try.
