Distington prove too strong for Glasson

Adam Conway tries to force a way through the Glasson defence

Champions Distington proved too strong for Glasson in their Holmen Iggesund Cumberland ARL Premier Division clash.

They built on a 20-6 interval lead to win 42-16 and keep themselves in the race for this year’s title.

Phil Lister (2), Scott Rooke (2), Shaun Adams, Jack Penrice, Kieran Worthington and Ryan Hodgson scored the Distington tries with Scott George landing five goals.

Tyler Beales (2) and Matthew Burns scored tries for Glasson with Ellis Nixon landing two goals.

Ellenborough still have their sights on the championship and were 40-10 winners at Wath Brow A after leading 24-4 at half-time.

Owen Hoyles was the match star for Ellenborough with three tries and five goals while Jordan Ostle (2), Luke Penrice and Luke Broster also touched down. Broster also kicked a goal.

The Hornets scored tries through Adam Hodgson and Greg Howland with Jason Connery kicking a goal.

There was a cracking game at Aspatria where the Hornets edged out Lowca 21-20 after trailing 12-4 at the break.

A drop goal from Mark Irwin proved to be the difference between the two teams at the end.

Irwin had also scored two tries while Richard Stamper and Ross Barton also got over. Luke Johnson kicked two goals.

For Lowca there were tries from  James McNally, Jacob Johnson and Luke Stockton with four goals by Tony Hetherington.

In the other game Egremont beat Maryport 48-24 after leading 28-6 at the break.

The Egremont tries were scored by John Paul Brocklebank (2), Antony Faulkener (2), Albert McKay (2), Kevin Brown, Jordan Baird and Brett Fairclough.

The goals were kicked by Matty Hunter (4), Brown and McKay.

 The Maryport tries were scored by Blake Miller (2), Leo Ackerley and Andrew Patterson with four goals by Craig Foster.
