Eden Thistle edged an absolute classic, 4-3, away to Ullswater United in the James Cropper Westmorland League, scoring their winning goal with a quarter of an hour remaining.
Both teams went into the Division III boasting 100 per cent league records.
But it was the Carlisle-based side who emerged the victors with goals from Gary Richardson (2), Phil Wynne and Nicky Routledge.
Luke Savage (2) and Dan Owen replied for Ullswater.
