Detectives investigating a death, a stabbing and two crashes in West Cumbria have released an update.
A red Kia Rio collided with two pedestrians, a woman in her 40s and a child of secondary school age, in the Woodend area of Egremont at around 2.30pm on Saturday.
The driver of the vehicle, a man in his late 20s, left his vehicle and assaulted the woman, who suffered stab wounds to her arm, described as not life-threatening.
The woman was taken to the Cumberland Infirmary in Carlisle but was released on the same day.
The child suffered minor injuries and was taken to hospital as a precaution and discharged.
Police received another call at 2.44pm after a single-vehicle collision on St Bees Road.
Officers attended and located a man in a woodland area. The man, in his late 20s, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Cumbria Constabulary has confirmed that the man involved in the previous incident and the man who died following a crash was the same person.
“The driver of the Kia Rio, who then subsequently carried out the assaults, was found deceased in woodland a short time later in circumstances not being treated as suspicious,” a spokesman for the force said.
Police have since released an update after receiving more information about the incident.
