West Cumbrian Jamie Blamire has been named in the England squad for the autumn internationals.
Blamire, 23, who started his union career with Workington Zebras and who has also played league for Seaton Rangers, plays for Newcastle Falcons.
He made a sensational introduction to international rugby by scoring a hat-trick of tries against Canada in only his second appearance for England.
In fact he had scored on his full England debut against the USA in July this year just three minutes after coming on as a replacement.
The three tries against Canada came the following week.
Blamire signed his first senior academy deal with the Falcons in the summer of 2016 after graduating from the club’s AASE scheme at Gosforth Academy.
He has been capped by England at Under-18s and 20s level and played club rugby for Tynedale before switching permanently to the Falcons.
He made his first team debut from the bench during the 2017-18 European Challenge Cup win in Bordeaux.
Blamire appeared a further two times from the bench that year before helping the Falcons to the final of the 2018 World Club 10’s in Mauritius.
He scored the try which sent the Falcons through to the semi-finals of the Premiership Rugby Cup at Sale Sharks in February 2019, also scoring on his Premiership debut at Gloucester in May 2019 after coming on as a back-row replacement.
Part of the squad which helped the Falcons to the 2019 A-League final, Blamire was named Academy Player of the Season for 2018-19.
He helped the Falcons to promotion in 2019-20 and played 18 games during the 2020-21 season.
Uncapped Sale scrum-half Raffi Quirke and Northampton back Tommy Freeman, both 20, have been named in the latest England squad for the autumn internationals.
Two more uncapped players in Gloucester centre Mark Atkinson and Leicester hooker Nic Dolly make the 34-man squad.
However, there is no place for 50-cap stars Mako and Billy Vunipola, George Ford and Jamie George.
Harlequins fly-half Marcus Smith is included and Owen Farrell has been confirmed as captain.
England face Tonga on 6 November, Australia on 13 November and world champions South Africa on 20 November.
