Kirkby Lonsdale Rugby Club’s Colts remain undefeated this season.
In the first five matches of the NW Halbro league, they have beaten Rossendale, Eccles, Altrincham, Sale and Southport. They have now been reseeded into a higher division for the league conference games which start in November.
Team manager, Richard Lancaster, said: “Our squad has come together really well following the challenges of COVID-19. The whole aim of the Colts at the club is to provide an enjoyable and competitive rugby experience that helps the transition from junior to senior rugby.
“We train regularly with the senior players and we will soon see a handful of players playing for the senior sides during transition weekends. It’s great to see 11 of our players going forward to Cumbria U18 County trials but the real strength in our squad comes from the togetherness the Colts have generated and the sheer enjoyment of playing rugby again. In the last game, we were proud to be sporting our new kit sponsored by our main sponsor Clarence Court Eggs.”
Colts Captain, Callum Ellis, said: “After over a year off rugby it’s just good to be playing rugby again and we have a strong team this year. We’re looking forward to the next round of league matches where we will be presented with significantly harder competition from opponents like Wilmslow, Stockport, Bowdon, and Caldy.”
