Keswick’s home game with Southport tomorrow won’t be played at Davidson Park because of flooding.
The ground was under water yesterday after the persistent heavy rain, which also caused damage inside the clubhouse.
These are persistent problems for the Keswick club who have been hit on several occasions following storms and heavy rain.
But the North Two West clash will go ahead as Keswick have agreed with Penrith to switch the game to the all-weather artificial surface at Winters Park as the hosts travel to Glossop in North One West.
It should be an attractive game as Southport lie second in the table, six points better off than Keswick who are seventh, but the Cumbrians do have a game in hand.
Southport, 30-21 home winners against Warrington last week, won’t have good memories of their last visit to Cumbria earlier in the month when they were beaten by Cockermouth, who were registering their first win.
Cockermouth hope to collect their second victory tomorrow. Their game at Strawberry How against De La Salle has got the thumbs-up and it’s a big one for both teams.
Although still bottom, with just five points from seven games, Cockermouth are getting more players back and last week’s 37-0 score-line at Tarleton did not really reflect the way the game went.
Tarleton deserved the victory but Cockermouth were left kicking themselves for wasting five good opportunities to score in the home red zone.
Unfortunately from three of those chances Tarleton profited with breakaway scores – twice from interceptions and then from a dropped ball.
There was one more injury set-back with Harry Bibby breaking a hand, but Cockermouth should welcome back others tomorrow. Mark Watson was official man of the match at Tarleton and Adam Brough picked-up the committee’s nomination.
