Despite a fall of 10 per cent in coronavirus cases in Cumbria, there are still a number of areas with infection rates significantly above national and regional averages.

Despite a fall of 10 per cent in coronavirus cases in Cumbria, there are still a number of areas with infection rates significantly above national and regional averages.

The England average for case rates per 100,000 is 346.5 and the North West average is 341.1.

Here is a list of the areas in Cumbria with the highest infection rates. The number of new weekly cases is accompanied by the rate per 100,000 in brackets.

  • Askam & Dalton North – 47 (756 per 100,000)
  • Parton & Distington – 36 (699.8 per 100,000)
  • Hensingham, Hillcrest & Aikbank – 63 (637.1 per 100,000)
  • Walney Island North – 42 (630.5 per 100,000)
  • Mirehouse, Kells & Woodhouse – 62 (624.2 per 100,000)
  • Aspatria & Abbeytown – 52 (617.4 per 100,000)
  • Orsmgill & Hindpool – 40 (612.1 per 100,000)
  • Thornhill, Gosforth & Seascale – 52 (603 per 100,000)
  • Egremont & Moor Row – 46 (593.5 per 100,000)
  • Kingmoor, Houghton & Whiteclosegate – 61 (585 per 100,000)
  • Dalton South – 31 (560.7 per 100,000)
  • Walney Island South & Barrow Island – 33 (539.6 per 100,000)
  • Abbotsmead & Salthouse – 39 (528.2 per 100,000)
  • Millom & Duddon Valley – 51 (522.1 per 100,000)
