Joint leaders of the B League are Lifeboat A

The JJ’s Workington Pool B League’s frontrunners Lifeboat A and B kept up their impressive form to edge their latest matches.

Lifeboat B had home advantage against Grapes A but found themselves 4-1 behind as Barry Graham secured the fifth frame.

Needing the remaining four frames Lifeboat’s Bobby Carter started the revival and his team completed the 5-4 come back as they secured all three doubles frames.

Club compatriots Lifeboat A had a tricky tie away at the Railway Club. Winning both their frames, Lifeboat’s Scott Messenger and Sam Williamson helped their team to a 5-4 victory.

Keeping pace are Packhorse B who swept aside Chasers 8-1. An impressive break and dish from Gaz Messenger was the highlight of the evening.

Cons Club cueist Jason Hayton helped secure a 6-3 victory over Skinny Jimmy’s while Miners ended their losing streak as they dominated the singles in a 6-3 victory over Seaton Royal Oak.

In the A league, reigning champions JJ’s A visited league challengers the Vets. It was the Vets’ Neil Henderson who kicked off the evening winning the first frame as his team dominated the singles to give them an unassailable 5-1 lead.

Mopping up two of the doubles frames gave the Vets a 7-2 win.

Packhorse A and Station Rd B faced off in an early season relegation battle. With the match tied it was Packhorse’s Lewis Tilley and Karl Newton who got their team over the line 6-3 to collect their first points of the season.

Station Rd C’s Raymond Skillicorn and Steve Gibbon won their second last frame decider of the week.

After a last frame decider win against Senhouse in the Cup the doubles pairing earned their side a 5-4 victory and inflicted the first defeat of the season on Grapes.

Senhouse bounced back from their Cup defeat with help from Steve Lowery as a break and dish saw them defeat Harrington Legion 7-2.
