Carlisle Cricket Club has announced a clutch of new winter appointments as they look forward to the 2022 season.
One is also a significant signing, too, in the Cumbria all-rounder Nico Watt who has moved from neighbours Wigton.
Watt has also agreed to take up the role of junior co-ordinator at Edenside as Carlisle beef-up their backroom team.
Club secretary Mark Davidson said: “Nico will be familiar to many, both as an outstanding player and coach, and I know that he cannot wait to get started in the new year.
“I am also delighted to announce that Scott Taylor will be joining us to take up the position of Edenside Academy captain in 2022.
“Pathway development has been right at the heart of Carlisle CC for many years and the committee are extremely delighted with the appointment of Sam Clarkson to the position of Cricket Development Manager.
“Sam’s abundant enthusiasm and knowledge has already been evident in the initial planning meetings, and I know that he will play a key role as we move into 2022 and beyond.
“I must thank both Fraser Conn and Christophe Vever, who have been central to the pathway programme at Edenside, and the good news is that they will still be heavily involved with coaching at the club next year.”
Further details on the club’s indoor training will be announced early in 2022 while the Cumbria League fixtures should also be published in the new year.
The Carlisle committee, in conjunction with Cumbria County Cricket Club, has also announced that Edenside will play host to two NCCA T20 matches on Sunday May 8, when Cumbria entertain Staffordshire, with a 40-minute break between games.
“This should provide another entertaining, coloured clothing white ball extravaganza at Edenside which proved so popular in 2021 at club level.
“More topically, the club’s Christmas social event on Wednesday 29th December will now be held in the clubhouse from 4pm and we warmly invite supporters to attend, subject to the latest government guidelines.
“One further date for the diary is Saturday January 29, when we are holding a comedy night in the clubhouse to include hot food at a charge of £10,” said Davidson.
