A number of deliberate wheelie bin fires in Barrow has prompted the fire service to issue a warning to residents.
Barrow Fire Station said it had been called to a number of blazes on Harrison Street, Marsden Street and Rawlinson Street.
A statement from the station said: “Crews at Barrow fire station want to warn people of the dangers and urge our communities not to put bins out until the day of collection.
“Wheelie bins give off thick toxic black smoke and the fires can quickly spread to properties or vehicles.
“They also leave a mess and waste that if left could attract vermin such as rats. Please only put bins out on collection days.
“Ensure you only recycle the correct waste in your red recycling bins.”
