A factory worker from Carlisle who almost didn’t buy his winning National Lottery Scratchcard because of roadworks outside the shop is today celebrating becoming £2 million richer with his wife.

The identity of the winner will remain a secret until tomorrow, with the first thing on the couple’s shopping list being an operation for their rescued pet pooch who has an injured leg.

Cumbria Crack will learn more tomorrow about what made the factory worker stop in roadworks and purchase his Monolopy Deluxe Scratchcard.
