What can £2m buy you? Cumbria Crack investigates! Pictured is a pile of bank notes

The news that a Carlisle factory worker has landed a £2 million scratchcard win has got many of us wondering what we could buy with the winnings.

The identity of the winner will remain a secret until tomorrow, with the first thing on the couple’s shopping list being an operation for their rescued pet pooch who has an injured leg.

Cumbria Crack will soon learn more about what made the factory worker stop in roadworks and purchase his Monolopy Deluxe Scratchcard. But to try and get a taste of what it would be like to have £2 million in the bank, we set out to find out what we could get with our winnings.

Option one

Carlisle United – £1.96 million

Peugeot 3008 1.5 BlueHDi Allure Premium 5dr – £33,180 (David Hayton)

SAMSUNG QE75LST7TCU 2021 Range The Terrace 75″ 4K outdoor QLED Television – £6,499 (Peter Tyson)

Sony HT-X8500 2.1ch Dolby Atmos/DTS:X Single Soundbar with built-in subwoofer – £299 (Peter Tyson)

After buying your local football club, a new car, TV and soundbar, you’d still have £22 to spend!

Option two

Four bedroom detached house in Ravenside Lodge, Wreay – £1,195,000 (Fine & Country)

Four-bed terraced house on Warwick Road, just yards from Carlisle United’s Brunton Park ground, from Zoopla – £175,000

Porsche 911 from David Hayton – £139,995

Three bedroom property in Powburgh Gardens, Thurstonfield – £425,000 (Fine & Country)

Fifteen nights at the Hard Rock Hotel, Maldives for two people, all-inclusive (flights included) – £13,813.98 (TUI)

Fourteen nights at The Plaza, New York for two people (flights included) – £6,963.47 (TUI)

Fourteen nights in at Four Seasons Resort, Seychelles for two people, half board – £32,998.40 (TUI)

Fourteen nights Katikies Kirini Santorini, Greece, bed and breakfast for two people (flights included) –  £10,873.97 (TUI)

After buying three houses, a Porsche sports car, spending fourteen nights in New York, fifteen nights in the Maldives, 14 nights in Seychelles and 14 nights in Santorini, you’d still be left with £355.18.

Option three

Digestives – 1,550,387 packets of McVitie’s biscuits from Tesco – £1,999,999. We know the lucky winner is a factory worker in Carlisle, but does he work at the city’s historic McVitie’s factory?

Option Four

Cheese and wine – 57,142 Selfridges Selection cheddar and prosecco gift boxes. Perfect for parties. Probably won’t fit into a suitcase though!
