Former Workington Reds winger Rowan Roache is on the move again, joining the National North club Chester FC.
The 21-year-old made his debut in last night’s League game with Brackley which ended in a 1-1 draw as Chester were denied a vital win by a last minute equaliser.
It was an unfortunate own goal from former Carlisle and Barrow centre-half Simon Grand which gave Brackley the point to put them joint top with Gateshead.
Roache, who played the first 68 minutes before being substituted had a hand in the Chester goal soon after half-time. He was tackled after a good run into the box and the loose ball was drilled home by Declan Weeks.
Roache had left Workington earlier in the season after he had been brought in by manager Chris Willcock to plug gaps created by a serious injury list which had nine senior players missing at one point.
He made a favourable impression for the NPL West side but found the travelling difficult from his Blackpool base and was released to join Atherton Collieries in the NPL Premier Division.
Roache, who has signed an initial short-term deal at the Deva, had played eight times for the Reds and scored three goals, two of them from the penalty spot.
His dangerous deliveries from free-kicks and crosses from wide positions were a feature of his short time at Workington.
He had joined Blackpool in 2014 and progressed through the youth system over the next six years before making a significant impact in the side which won the North West Youth Alliance and Lancashire FA Youth Cup, scoring 30 goals in 31 games.
Roache was then part of the Tangerines side that reached the FA Youth Cup semi-final, losing to Arsenal, the following season. He was capped at youth level for Republic of Ireland on 18 occasions from Under-16s through to Under-19s.
