Carlisle’s heavy involvement in the transfer window will start to be tested tonight at Brunton Park.
United host Port Vale and five late signings are all likely to be included in the match day squad.
Mitchell Roberts, Kristian Dennis, Tobi Sho-Silva, Owen Windsor and Jamie Devitt (second time round) are all possible debutants.
Manager Keith Millen has expressed his satisfaction at the way the quintet have settled and believes they are all the right characters to make a difference.
United had been on an encouraging run of form until recent results have virtually taken them back to square one.
“I think the new signings have helped lift morale in the whole group. They would have been involved at Rochdale if it hadn’t been postponed so we are looking forward to seeing them in action tonight.
“I like the way they have added a freshness to the squad and they are all excellent characters who are going to contribute going forward,” said Millen.
Meanwhile Carlisle have re-arranged Saturday’s postponed game at Rochdale for Tuesday, March 29 (ko 7.45pm).
There was general agreement that the referee made the right call after postponing the game an hour before kick-off.
Parts of the pitch were carrying standing water and conditions got worse after the postponement had been announced.
But while they were making their way back to Cumbria, Carlisle heard that Oldham had edged closer to them by beating the seemingly doomed Scunthorpe 1-0.
United go into tonight’s clash with Port Vale five points better off than Oldham but from a game more. The Latics, on what they call a Shezurrection under former United boss John Sheridan, are at home to Bristol Rovers.
Sheridan has twice saved Oldham from relegation and has gone back looking to complete a hat-trick.
