Penrith chairman Billy Williams has wished striker Max Brown all the best as he moves away to live and work.
Brown was in his third season with the Bonnyblues but has left the club to relocate to Manchester.
Williams said: “Max has been a good lad for us at Penrith and I was really touched when he rang up to say goodbye and thank me for his time at the club.
“He has done well for us, although he has been hampered this season by an injury he picked up in a pre-season game. I’ve wished him all the best.
“It’s unfortunate because we’ve also lost Matty Storey who has gone off travelling the world. He had been a great find for us from Northbank.
“The departures have come at a crucial time of the season with us fighting to avoid relegation. We have some good young players for the future, but at the moment time isn’t on our side.
“But as I keep saying we have to keep the faith and hope we can avoid the bottom two. The two back to back victories we had last month have been absolutely vital to us.”
Penrith were poor on Saturday when they lost 4-1 at home to Newcastle Benfield when 44-year-old Paul Brayson was on target for the visitors.
“He’s remarkable. The legs might have gone but he knows the game and gets in the right positions. Full credit to him for keeping on at a game he obviously loves,” said Williams.
One of Penrith’s old heads, assistant manager Shaun Gardner actually scored for the hosts after 75 minutes but they had fallen behind to three first half goals. Benfield scored again in time added on.
On Saturday Penrith travel to Seaham Red Star who are actually just below Benfield in the table, around the halfway point.
Penrith remain third bottom but have games in hand of the two sides below them Billingham Town and Northallerton.
