Former Workington Comets star Ulrich Ostergaard has declared himself fit and ready to go for the new season.
Ostergaard missed out on Peterborough’s Premiership title win after suffering multiple injuries in a crash at Edinburgh when racing in the Championship last July.
That ended his campaign, but he will be back with both the Panthers and Glasgow this year.
He said: “Preparation is going really good, actually. I’m working full-time and then plenty of running and mountain biking, so I feel really good and ready to go.
“I have started bike-building and finalising a few things with my sponsors, which is so important for me.”
The 40-year-old joined the Comets mid-season in 2007 after Carl Stonehewer had been injured.
He had just fallen-out with Grasham Drury at Birmingham, and with Tony Mole owning both tracks, it made sense for him to come to Workington as Stoney’s replacement.
Tony Jackson was team manager that year and said: “Ulrich and I got on right away and still keep in touch occasionally. We always have a catch-up when we see each other at meetings.
“He was very popular at Workington and it was only the difficulty in travelling to Cumbria, with him being based in Denmark that contributed to him not signing again.
“He had a young family and combined to the fact that we were a Saturday track at Workington, it stopped him returning in 2008.”
