Carlisle United manager Paul Simpson is still uncommitted on his future at the club after the end of the season.
Simpson, who has rescued the Blues from the threat of relegation is frequently being asked about what happens next.
The latest press poser prompted this response: “It really isn’t something I’m concerning myself with. When I came in, everybody was fully aware there were loads of issues that were going on behind the scenes, off the grass.
“I’ve no idea whether they’ve been resolved and who knows what’s going to happen next season. Until those are resolved, there isn’t really any point having those conversations.
“If there is talk of a new ownership group coming in and changing this place and that place, a new owner might not fancy Paul Simpson as the manager, and I might not fancy a new owner.
“Until everything is really clear, there’s no conversations to have. It’s literally a case of let’s finish this season as strong as we possibly can, and if we are still in the Football League it will make it a much more attractive job for me, or for somebody else if that’s the case.”
“To be perfectly honest, when I came in and was asked if I would come and do the last 15 games, they said to me, there are going to be conversations going on in the background, and I was asked if I wanted to be involved in them.
“I said no, I don’t want to be involved in them because I want to just get my head on the 15 games, and not have to deal with the politics. Really, it’s made it quite easy for me, because when reporters ask me, I can honestly say no, I don’t know, because I really don’t know what’s going on.
“Until all those things are resolved, there really isn’t any point in me and them having a conversation.
“As I’ve explained before, there really isn’t any point in me accepting a job in a club that’s got issues off the field, because all that’s going to happen is I’m going to be fighting fires and I’ll probably get the sack in October or November, and I don’t need that.
“If I was to take the job here, I would be moving up here, Jacqui would be moving up with me and we’d be basing ourselves here to really throw ourselves and our lives into the football club.
“There’s no point me doing that if I’m then putting my house back on the market in November. It’s not what I want.
“I want to come to a club that has a chance of being successful and a chance of me being successful in that. There’s too many grey areas at the moment that need to be resolved.
“This club has the potential to be a really good football club. It’s shown that in the past on a number of occasions, and if things are right, then it’s a good opportunity for me or for somebody else.
“But it has to be right. It’s as simple as that.”
Simpson was booked at Tranmere yesterday, along with his opposite number Micky Mellon, for apparently not controlling their players in an unseemly brawl.
A feisty, but entertaining game, ended 2-2 with Tranmere playing out the closing stages with nine men and United snatching a point through Tobi Sho-Silva.
Omari Patrick had scored their first equaliser on 54 minutes.
