
Cumbria’s young Development side opened their 2022 programme with a good win against their Northumberland counterparts.
Played at the Tynemouth club, Cumbria won a low-scoring game by four wickets to get their campaign up and running.
Northumberland were bowled out for 105 in 36.5 overs with three of the Cumbrian bowlers taking two wickets apiece.
Netherfield’s Reece Irving took 2-8; Cockermouth’s Sam Sharp had 2-12 while Workington’s Regan Jackson finished with 2-17.
Keswick’s Ben Sharp (52no) and Carlisle’s Ben Davidson (27) were largely instrumental in Cumbria achieving their target, reaching 106-6 at the start of the 35th over.
The second game is scheduled for Tuesday, May 17 at Netherfield against North Wales.
