Two controversial sendings off involving West Cumbrian players in the National Conference have been reduced on appeal.
Although the decision have been welcomed, the sendings off at the time were thought by the clubs involved to have affected the result on the day.
Wath Brow full-back Cole Walker-Taylor had been sin-binned at Siddal and was then shown the red card after he came back onto the field before the stipulated ten minutes.
Hornets complained at the time that Walker-Taylor had been allowed to go back on by a touch judge. Siddal went on to win the game 24-16.
He had been handed a one-match ban but that was reduced to “sending off sufficient” when his good disciplinary record was taken into consideration.
Wath Brow were the opposition when Egremont had Pat Wells sent off in their West Cumbrian derby on Easter Saturday. It was said to be for a dangerous tackle and Wells was handed a three-match ban.
Although they played with 12 men for an hour Egremont produced a most spirited performance before losing 26-14.
Now, on appeal, Wells’ suspension has been reduced to just one game.
