Crazy, the reigning senior HTA champion was back to winning ways at Kirkland on Monday night.
The Cleator Moor bitch was well clear of Biff when she crossed the line to register her first win of the season.
Jonty Moore, who owns her along with daughter Avie and father-in-law Jack Thompson, said: “She’s had one or two runs but this was a bad night with mist and rain. We were all soaked to the skin and there’s an old saying that it takes an old dog for a hard trail.
“Crazy is six years old now, a first-year veteran so we’re hoping there are a few more wins for her.”
Jonty’s son Jake, the Whitehaven rugby league forward, is also now part of the family team running the three-strong kennel.
Their pup Ned’s Gain has been in top form recently but didn’t show last night in the junior trail which saw Brian and Joy Lister’s Aspatria bitch finish well to get up and beat Huntsman’s Rascal almost on the line.
Huntsman’s Rascal has been in good form, winning the puppy maidens at the May Day trails and then the pups at Kirkland on Saturday.
Geoff and Barbara Jones made the long trip from Ulverston pay off in the open maidens with Lily, denying the Listers a double as their Imagine was second.
