Police are appealing for people to come forward with information after two people died in a collision in West Cumbria.

Pedestrians Bethanie Clark, 31, of Lowca and David Muir, 43, of Parton, died as a result of the collision on the A596 at Flimby, on Sunday, May 15.

Emergency services were called at around 12.10am to the collision, which involved a Nissan Qashqai.

A 30-year-old woman from West Cumbria was arrested on suspicion of two counts of causing death by dangerous driving. She was later bailed.

Police said their officers have been conducting CCTV enquiries and are looking to identify four vehicles that were in the area of the collision beforehand, and are keen to speak to anyone who was driving from Flimby towards the 40mph zone heading towards Workington before midnight on May 14 into May 15.

Officers are also keen to speak to a woman driver who stopped her vehicle and told another witness to call the police before continuing on her journey.

Anyone with information relating to this incident can report online at www.cumbria.police.uk/report-it, quoting incident two of May 15 or call 101.

Alternatively, contact Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
