Tom Cruise drops into the Lake District for Mission Impossible filming

Superstar Tom Cruise has dropped into the Lake District this week to film daredevil scenes for his latest blockbuster.

The 60-year-old actor is famous for doing his own stunts and is believed to be in the Buttermere area as filming continues on the next instalment of the Mission Impossible series.

He jumped off a fell and paraglided as part of the sequence twice.

Cruise is filming the seventh and eighth Mission Impossible films – which are said to have a budget of £290 million following delays due to COVID-19.

Earlier this month, film crews were spotted at Kirkbride Airfield, near Carlisle and marquees, vehicles and portable toilets – plus a helicopter – arrived in Buttermere.

One of Cumbria Crack’s readers said: “We sure saw some security and crew as we entered via Gatesgarth car park to climb up High Stile.”

And another said they had been chatting to a security guard who said they would be there for a month

Cruise was last in the Lake District in September. During breaks in filming, he chatted with fans and posed for photos.
