The Cumbria Cup has claimed its first victim ahead of the competition’s start on August 21.
Cockermouth, who were drawn at home to Kendal in a preliminary round tie, have conceded.
A club statement said: “It is with disappointment that we have had to pull out of this year’s County Cup.
“Cockermouth RUFC were keen to support Cumbria RUFC and the County Cup this season but the draw has gone against us.
“The majority of players are celebrating the wedding of strength/conditioning coach Luke Reeson and the stag do of stand-off Ed Gate so we are unable to field a team until the weekend of the August 28.
“We wish Kendal the best of luck in the first round and hope the Cup is a success this season.”
Cockermouth v Kendal was one of three preliminary round games and the other two scheduled to be played on or before August 21 are Upper Eden v St Benedict’s and Silloth v Whitehaven.
Kendal will now go through to the first round on August 28 when they will be at home to the winners of Silloth and Whitehaven.
The other first round ties are: Carlisle v Egremont; Penrith v Wigton and Aspatria v the winners of Upper Eden and St Benedict’s.
Workington, who have won the County Cup 12 times and Keswick, successful on seven occasions, are mong the clubs who have not entered this season.
