Cumbria put up a decent effort in their Showcase game against Lancashire at Sedbergh School.
Heavy rain on Saturday caused a delayed start and the game was reduced to 22 overs a side.
In the end Cumbria lost by 44 runs after inserting Lancashire, who set them a target of topping 186-6.
When the overs ran out Cumbria had made a creditable reply of 142-5.
Lancashire had started well, rattling up 64 by the seventh over before Ben Walkden had Liam Wells caught for 28.
Three overs later Lancashire were 72-4 as Walkden, who is a member of Lancashire’s Academy grabbed his second wicket and man of the moment Siddall took two.
But Josh Bohannon (51no) and David Lamb (50) put on 77 for the fifth wicket before teenagers Josh Stirling and Regan Jackson each claimed a wicket and eventually Lancashire closed on 186-6.
Siddall took 2-24 from his five overs and Walkden had 2-34 from six with Stirling (1-35) and Jackson (1-28) also chipping in.
Bohannon, talked about as a possible England player earlier in the season, only faced 39 deliveries for his unbeaten half century.
All the top four for Cumbria got a decent start with Evan Williams (20), Nathan Waterston (28), JJ Fielding (42) and Walkden (30) but they just left too much to do over the last five overs and they were only 142-5 at the end.
Wells was the most successful Lancashire bowler taking 3-25 while Fielding is also a Lancashire 2nd team player. His father Jonathan is a former Cumberland player.
It was a good performance by Cumbria who went into the game with a side which had an average age 20.5 years and included five teenagers.
Nathan Waterston and Ben Davidson were the ‘old men’ of the party at 24 years of age. The Lancashire team’s average age was 24.5 with only one teenager.
Cumbria are now gearing-up for the big one on Sunday when they play in Oxfordshire, contesting the semi-final of the NCCA Trophy.
