A man found on a busy Carlisle road in the early hours of last Sunday has died.
He was found on Wigton Road, between the Caldewgate roundabout and junctions of Granville Road and Stanhope Road, at around 4.15am.
Police said he had serious head injuries.
He was taken to the city’s Cumberland Infirmary for treatment and police confirmed last night that he has died in hospital.
A police spokesman said: “The death is currently unexplained and a Home Office post mortem will take place as part of enquiries to establish the circumstances.”
