Cumbria have had to make a late change to their selected side for tomorrow’s NCCA Trophy semi final against Oxfordshire.
Paul Hindmarch has had to drop out of the travelling squad so Cumbria have had to turn the clock back to 2019 and recalled Liam Grey who last played then.
It’s a case of needs must for Cumbria with skipper Michael Slack, Sam Sharp and now Hindmarch unavailable as they look to add some pace to the attack.
Grey plays with the Northern club in the Liverpool and District League and they have enjoyed a successful season, currently second in the table.
They actually have a big game today at third placed Ormskirk with both teams level on points.
Grey has been a key member of the attack, taking 30 wickets at 15.43 with a best analysis of 7-23.
Between 2016 and 2019 Grey played 16 times in all formats for Cumbria, three of them in the Tropy when he took seven wickets at 11.42 and a best return of 3-33.
The counties have met six times in the Trophy with Oxfordshire holding the whip hand with four wins. Cumbria have won once and of course the last time they met produced the tied match.
Although they are currently the most successful NCCA side, Oxfordshire have never won the Trophy and Cumbria are the only semi-finalist who has actually lifted the silverware.
Defending champions Berkshire take on Dorset at Finchampstead in the other semi-final.
Oxfordshire have not yet announced a squad for the game.
