Barrow Raiders had been unbeaten in July but they started August with a 52-20 defeat at Championship leaders Leigh Centurions.
Barrow had actually scored first on ten minutes with a well taken finish by Hakim Miloudi, converted by Ryan Shaw.
Although Leigh levelled with a converted try, Barrow regained the lead on 25 minutes with a penalty from Shaw.
It had been a hugely promising start by the south Cumbrians but Leigh showed their credentials with two more converted tries to lead 18-8 at the break.
Unfortunately by the time Tee Ritson breezed in for Barrow’s second try on 64 minutes they were trailing 46-8.
Shaw added the conversion and three minutes later Jarrod Sammut slipped through for the third try which Shaw improved.
Barrow conceded only one more try, four minutes from the end.
Paul Crarey’s side had doggedly stuck at it throughout the 80 minutes but there is no substitute for class and Leigh have it in abundance.
