Manager Paul Simpson has given an update on Carlisle’s two worrying injuries with players needing scans.
Morgan Feeney was hurt in Saturday’s draw at Colchester while goal-scorer Ryan Edmondson was substitute in the first half at Shrewsbury last night.
Of Edmondson, Simpson said: “He’s had to come off because he’s had another bang on the hip, so I wasn’t prepared to take the risk. He looked like he was struggling. We’ll see how he is, we’ll everybody dusted down and see how we are for the weekend.
“I’d spoken to him about 10 minutes before I took him off because he’d been hobbling around a fair bit. We’re not in a position where we can take risks.
“If it was the last game of the season fine, but what I don’t want to do is make it a prolonged injury just because we’ve been getting carried away in thinking he can stay out there.
“He’s been struggling with his hip over the whole of the season and part of pre-season, he keeps struggling for a day or two then he gets ready to go again
“We’re probably going to have to get him scanned and try and find out what the issue is, because it’s something we need to get nipped in the bud if we possibly can.”
Feeney has been wearing a protective boot since Saturday’s away trip to Colchester.
Simpson said: “He was at A&E with a boot on his foot, but I can’t tell you much more than that at the moment.
“He’s still got the boot on, and he’s been for a scan. It was an ultrasound and a CT scan.
“The results aren’t really conclusive, so we’re going to send him to see a specialist on Thursday, because they’re not really sure what it is. We’re hoping it isn’t too bad, but there is a chance that it might be.
“We can’t actually see anything from the game at the weekend. He chased a ball into the channel with Freddie Sears, and checked quickly and felt a sharp pain in his heel.
“We’re going to send him to see an orthopaedic surgeon and I can’t really speculate on how bad it is. We’ll wait for an expert opinion and then we’ll have a better idea of where we are.”
