Carlisle City boss Jim Nichols is calling on Carlisle United supporters to sample some FA Cup action on Saturday.
City have a home game in the preliminary round against Goole Town and extra support would be welcome.
Nichols said: “United are down south at Stevenage so I thought a good number of their fans will be at a loose end on Saturday.
“It would be a great chance to watch an FA Cup tie and support another team from Carlisle.
“I’m hoping it might capture the imagination of a few people in Carlisle who will come down and have a look. We are unbeaten in the Northern League so far and lying third in the table, and I do think we have a good chance of going through.
“It wasn’t our best performance on Tuesday night but we did enough to get through it 2-1 and set us up for Saturday.”
Goole surprised Consett, last season’s Northern League runners-up winning 4-1 in the last round, a result which had not been predicted beforehand.
Now members of the Northern Counties East League, Goole won their opening game but in mid-week were beaten 2-1 at home by Barton Town.
Carlisle City have appealed against a recent sending-off for centre-half Dan Kirkup but still haven’t heard of any decision.
Aaron Bradbury should be back for the game while skipper Josh Simpson had 30 minutes at the end of Tuesday’s game.
