Velo Club Cumbria’s series of night time trials continued this week with Richard Shield winning the Keswick 25-miler.

Shield took advantage of the absence of some of the more regular winners covering the flat 25-mile course in windy conditions in a time of 56 minutes and 19 seconds.

He beat second-placed Brian Payton by 34 seconds while Kieran Hoban was third in a time of 1:00:20, narrowly ahead of Alan Cornthwaite. The fastest road bike rider was John Beck in a time of 1:05:14.

VCC’s club time trials continue on Tuesday, August 23 with the Keswick 10. The sign-on is from 6pm at the car park at Beck Wythop.

This will be the final VCC time trail of the year and the series concludes with the Whinlatter Hill Climb on August 30.
