The Workington and District Sunday League will have only one division this season.
The original proposal to switch from two Divisions following the participation of only 12 teams for 2022/23 had prompted objections and the need for a special AGM.
However, at that meeting last night it was agreed to go with the one Division.
In a new format the teams will play each other once, and when all 12 teams have played 11 games, the league will split into two divisions.
They will comprise the top six and the bottom six, divided into an A League and a B League.
The teams will play each other once making another five games and in total 16 games.
The top teams in Division A and Division B will have a one-off match for the League Championship.
There will be three knockout Cup competitions – the League Cup, President’s Cup and the Sunday County Cup.
If there is time room will be found for the Divisional Cup in a knock-out format.
The new season will now start on Sunday, September 18 and the fixtures will be issued next week.
There will be no matches on three successive Sundays over the Christmas holidays – December 18 and 25, and January 1 2023 with fixtures to resume on January 8.
