Taste Cumbria is back in Cockermouth this weekend.
The event takes place in the heart of the town on Saturday September 24 and Sunday September 25.
The ever-popular producers’ market will take place on Main Street, while over in Memorial Gardens Car Park, off Wakefield Road, will be the drinks tent, live music stage, picnic area and fairground.
Market Place will host a Street Party with the town’s businesses selling food and drink on the street, plus acoustic music, street art, circus skills and face painting.
New for 2022 is a Q&A with food writer Grace Dent and BBC Radio Cumbria’s Mike Zeller, a quiz night with stand-up comedian and broadcaster Steffen Peddie, and a Supper Club with Alec Anderson from West Cumbria-based Takeaway@Home who will be cooking a locally-sourced feast at Cockermouth Cricket Club.
There will also be the chance to watch some of the county’s chefs in the demo kitchen – this year the line-up includes Cartmell’s Irini Tzortzoglou, the MasterChef winner, and TV chef Peter Sidwell from Keswick who will be streaming his online show from the festival.
Taste Cumbria is organised by Allerdale council and supported by Cockermouth Town Council, The Coffee Kitchen Bakery, Cartmell Shepherd Solicitors, Tractor Shed Brewing, The Trout Hotel, Peter Sidwell, Cockermouth Cricket Club, Tithe Tap, Rock With.
Mike Johnson, leader of Allerdale council, encouraged locals and visitors alike to visit the festival. He said: “I hope you’ll have a great time at Taste Cumbria this weekend. The weekend is packed with things to see and do.
“Your trip to Cockermouth will also help the region’s economy. The 2019 Taste Cumbria festival in Cockermouth attracted 25,000 visitors and brought £2.2 million into the local economy.
“That’s another reason why attractions like this are so important and why Allerdale Borough Council is so committed to bringing you these fantastic events.”
This festival will be followed by another festive favourite – Taste Cumbria Christmas in Cockermouth on December 10 and 11.
