Carlisle Rugby Club is celebrating a special milestone this season – it’s their 150th anniversary.

The Carlisle Cougars women’s team are a fairly recent addition in that long, respected history – and they are gearing up for a very special start to their new campaign which starts this Sunday.

Some strong-willed Cougars have decided to take part in Go Sober October which will be a hard challenge for the girls that like the tipple or two after a game of rugby.

This is all in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support which is dear to the players’ hearts as the Cougars sadly lost a former member of the team who was a massive part of the squad.

Anyone wishing to donate to the course and keep updated on the progress of the girls taking part, they can follow on social media by searching Carlisle Cougars and click here to donate.

The Cougars first league game is against Darlington away on Sunday October 2  and the players are all extremely excited to get the season started with a big game.

The first home game is against Blaydon on October 16 when the squad would appreciate as much support down as possible. They will hold a raffle after the game which proceeds will go towards the team.

The Cougars are always recruiting and are more than happy to talk to anyone interested of all abilities.
