
Mountain rescue were called to aid a 67-year-old woman with a serious leg injury yesterday.
Keswick Mountain Rescue Team were alerted by police at 2.01pm to the woman who was above Beck Wythop on the side of Bassenthwaite Lake.
The woman had been walking her dog and slipped and fell awkwardly a few miles from where she had started.

Phonefind was able to pinpoint the location of the woman amongst the maze of forest tracks. Two vehicles were sent out to locate her with the Great North Air Ambulance lifting due to the apparent serious nature of the injury.
As the injury was not as serious as initially indicated, the air ambulance were stood down. The woman was given pain relief and her leg splinted before she was carried down on a stretcher to a team vehicle.
She was then taken to Beck Wythop where she was collected by a family member and taken to hospital.
The incident lasted one hour and 44 minutes and involved 20 team members.
