In the lead up to the festive season, Ravenglass Railway Museum is inviting visitors to share their memories of past Christmases spent at the La’al Ratty.
The attraction is a favourite place to visit with thousands of families looking for festive fun every year. This year, the museum is looking to create a display in its Community Exhibition Gallery showing the best of La’al Ratty’s Christmas past.
“Whether it is memories, stories or photos, we want to hear from you about what makes Christmas at the Ravenglass and Eskdale Railway so special,” said collections assistant, Claire Winter-Moore. “With the very first visit from Santa at the railway being in the 1950s, making more regular appearances from the early 1980s, there’s sure to be lots of people with stories to tell.”
Alongside these memories, the display will also include images and stories from the museum’s own photographic collection. It will run from November 26 until the new year.

As part of the Christmas fun, visitors will also be able to take a seat on Santa’s Sleigh. The Sleigh will be parked in the museum over the festive period while the man himself is based at his grotto at Dalegarth Station for the railway’s popular Santa Express.
If you would like to be included in the museum’s Christmas display, email your images to [email protected] by Monday November 14.
