Kendal Town will try again to play their Westmorland County Cup tie on November 12 after the weekend’s postponement.
The second round game with Kirkby Stephen was called off after heavy rain, and the forecast for even worse downpours throughout the afternoon.
Chairman Michael O’Neill said: “It was the sensible decision because although the pitch was in good condition on Friday the rain had made a difference.
“Out Ladies play in the Lancashire Women’s League and their game today was also called off.
“Our next game is on Wednesday night at Northwich Victoria which I’m really looking forward to as we are in quite good form.
“We’ve also signed Matthew Flynn, a very experienced defender who was captain of Longridge last season and I’m sure he’s going to help stiffen up the back four.”
Flynn, who will debut for the Mintcakes at Northwich, has played for a number of clubs in the North West after starting as a pro with Macclesfield Town.
The 33-year-old 6ft 2ins defender includes Barrow among his former clubs, having played 22 times in the 2012/13 season, scoring three goals.
*Windscale were another of our local sides affected by the weather yesterday.
Their Wearside League game at Wolviston was called off because of a waterlogged pitch.
The Atoms next game is on Saturday at home to Silksworth.
