Witnesses are urged to come forward after disorder in Kendal in Saturday.
The incident, in Market Place, took place between 10pm and 10.30pm.
Police attended the area following the disorder and arrested a 36-year-old man on suspicion of assault and possession of a bladed article. He has since been released on police bail pending further enquiries.
No-one came forward at the time to say they had been injured in the incident.
Officers are particularly keen to hear from three young women and a man who may have witnessed what occurred and would also like to speak to anyone else who witnessed this incident or can provide CCTV of the area at the time.
