M-Sport rally driver Gus Greensmith has parted ways with the team, it has been announced.

Greensmith made his debut for the team in 2014 at the Lee Holland Memorial Stages. He worked his way through the ranks and was called up as an injury replacement in WRC 2019. It earned him a permanent place for M-Sport Ford for 2020.

His name was left off the roster for the Monte Carlo Rally next month.

Talks were held between M-Sport, based at Dovenby Hall, near Cockermouth, and the 25-year-old to continue the partnership, but a deal was unable to be reached, it is being reported.

In a social media post, M-Sport said: “Gus, you entered the sport with us eight years ago, from National events in a Fiesta R1, climbing to the top in a Puma Rally1 against the best in the world. Until today, today Gus and M-Sport will part ways. This isn’t the end, nor a goodbye. It’s a sincere and heartfelt thanks from all of us at Dovenby Hall, and all the best for the future.”
