Workington boss Danny Grainger is being touted as a possible target for Queen of the South.
The Dumfries club parted company with manager Wullie Gibson yesterday and a number of suggested replacements have been circulating.
Grainger’s connections with Scottish football are cited, having played for Gretna, Brechin, Dundee United, St Mirren, St. Johnstone, Hearts and Dunfermline.
He was also assistant manager at Falkirk under Paul Sheerin and had a brief spell as caretaker when Sheerin was dismissed.
Also suggested are Paul Hartley, most recently employed by Hartlepool; former Raith Rovers boss Grant Murray, acting as Queens caretaker manager; former Kelty Hearts boss Kevin Thomson and ex-Stenhousemuir manager Stephen Swift.
Grainger, back for his second stint in charge of Workington Reds, was twice denied promotion at Borough Park by COVID and has the side in the mix again at NPL West level.
Gibson had played over 180 games for Queens in three spells and had a season with the ill-fated Celtic Nation.
He joined Workington in 2014 and played a handful of matches before taking up an offer back in his native Scotland with Stranraer.
