In a remarkable turnaround Barrow came from 2-0 down to earn a fine 3-2 win at promotion rivals Mansfield.
The Bluebirds had gone five games without a win and fallen out of the play-offs and for much of the first-half they were second best all over the pitch.
It was looking grim until Billy Waters came up with a fierce strike just before the break to turn the game on its head.
Barrow were a different side in the second-half and in the end thoroughly deserved the points for their character and for manager Pete Wild’s astute tactical alterations.
The win actually meant Barrow bounced back into the play-off positions at Mansfield’s expense.
Stags boss Nigel Clough would have been delighted with the way his side started the game and how they fashioned a two goal lead – but hugely disappointed with the way they faded.
Opposite number Barrow’s Wild said: “It was a reward for the players’ character and I am absolutely delighted for them.
“It had been poor in the first half and I thought if we can just get to half-time at 0-2 we can sort things out. Then Billy (Waters) comes up with a goal and that really gave us a lift.
“We made personnel changes t half-time purely for tactical reasons to get back into our shape and I’m really pleased with how they worked.”
Stephen McLaughlin had put the hosts in front after nine minutes after Harrison Neal brought down George Maris almost 25 yards out. McLaughlin took the free-kick which took a deflection off a defender in the wall and beat Paul Farman’s best efforts to keep it out.
The lead was doubled after 25 minutes when George Ray was caught in possession by Stephen Quinn some 30 yards out, From there the veteran midfielder went clear and drilled the ball under Farman.
It was very much against the run of play when Waters pulled one back in added time. Although he had a cross blocked he then lashed the rebound past the startled Mansfield defence from a really tight angle inside the far post.
Josh Gordon was introduced as a half-time substitute and he was soon on target when he scored with a close-ranger header on 49 minutes from a fine cross by Tyrell Warren.
A remarkable victory was sealed on 77 minutes when another Warren cross was turned into his own net by Oli Hawkins although Gordon was in attendance and will claim the final touch.
