Kendal went down 28-3 at home to Wirral when they resumed their Regional 1 North West programme at Mint Bridge.
Kendal started well but it turned out to be a poor game and in the end they were well beaten.
Kendal’s season has been plagued by injuries and after quarter of an hour, Greg Wrathall and Danny Barker both had to be replaced.
Wirral opened the scoring almost right after when they moved the ball smartly from a scrum for George Burrows to score in the corner, and Mark Williams added the conversion.
Five minutes later Kendal were on the scoreboard when Glen Weightman cut the deficit with a penalty.
On 25 minutes Wirral scored their second try when Jacob Mitchell ploughed over from close range.
Just before half time there was a fracas among the forwards and Wirral second rower Hayden Long was yellow carded.
Four minutes into the second half Wirral extended their lead with a Williams penalty and still down to 14 men the same player booted a second penalty for an 18-3 advantage.
Although Wrathall tried to come back bolster the home pack he didn’t last long before having to be replaced again.
On the hour Wirral scored their third try after the ball went along the backs before a long pass was collected by Tom Akehurst who went in for an unconverted try.
In the closing stages Kendal had opportunities for a consolation score but couldn’t manage to break the Wirral defence.
Indeed it was Wirral who completed the scoring with their fourth, bonus point try after 76 minutes.
The visitors won a 10 metre line-out against the throw, controlled the maul and eventually Paul Lewis crossed out wide.
