Plans lodged for new business park to house £8 million enterprise centre near Penrith

Plans have been lodged for a new industrial business park near Penrith which would house Eden Council’s £8 million enterprise hub.

Outline planning permission is sought for a 23,000 square metre employment site comprising an enterprise centre and 11 employment units on land near Stoneybeck roundabout, north of the town on the A6.

The proposed development is largely a replication and combination of the 2018 outline planning permission and the 2020 planning permission for a stand-alone access.

Drawings submitted with the planning application show an indicative layout with the enterprise centre located centrally to the north/northwest of the site, and north of the main access. Other employment units are shown arranged around a central spine road within the site.

The larger units are located on the A6 side of the site, with smaller units located close to the B5305 where the access to the site is located and at its northern extent near to the A6/B5305 roundabout.

Five hundred new jobs could be in the pipeline if an £8 million funding bid for an Inspiring Eden enterprise hub is successful.

Eden Council is seeking support from the Government’s Levelling Up fund to build the state-of-the-art modern enterprise facility

If successful, a mix of office, studio, workshop and collaborative spaces would be provided as part of the development which, it is hoped, will generate up to an estimated 80 new businesses and £20m of economic benefits in the first 10 years of operation.
