A bid for a new 5G mast in Barrow has been revealed.
CK Hutchinson Networks (UK) wants to erect the 15m pole on Abbey Road, near the Park Drive junction, and has submitted an application to Barrow Borough Council to see if prior approval is needed.
A planning document prepared by Dot Surveying says the development – for mobile network Three – required a well-considered balance between the need to extend practical coverage with that of increasing risk of visual intrusion,
The document described the proposal as the ‘best available compromise’.
“The design of the proposed antenna and ground-based cabinets is considered to be the least visually intrusive option available,” it said.
“Whilst it is accepted that there will be a localised visual increase through the installation of additional apparatus, it is considered that this will not overly detract from the character
