Almost 2,000 workers from the North West Ambulance Service are getting ready to strike tomorrow.
Unions say the 24-hour strike – involving paramedics, emergency care assistants, call handlers and other staff – is scheduled for January 24, with the walk out starting at midnight.
Staff are taking industrial action over pay and and staffing following their first strike dates back in December.
In Cumbria, Barrow’s Alfred Barrow Health Centre will act as a key picket line and will be staffed from 7am to 7pm.
A further 16 health centres across the North West in areas such as Liverpool, Macclesfield and Chorley will also form key pickets.
The unions claim they are waiting too long for pay talks but Health Minister Steve Barclay said he is keen to discuss what is “affordable and fair”.
