Barrow Raiders head coach Paul Crarey has apologised to the fans over Sunday’s abandoned warm up clash with Workington Town.
The Raiders led 14-6 after 55 minutes when the lights went out at the Matt Johnson Prestige Stadium.
Electrical problems outside the club’s control meant the game had to be halted early.
A local power issue blew the fuse supplying the floodlights, and although the fuse was changed and the lights eventually restored, the referee had already called time on the fixture.
Crarey said: “It was an external fault, nothing to do with the club. I’m disappointed that we didn’t carry on really.
“I just want to apologise to all the fans that have left the ground with 25 minutes still to go.
“Normally in a friendly, that’s the most interesting part, when sides get back to full strength towards the back end of the game.”
As far as it went Crarey thought his side had been both good and poor in the first half when they built a 10-4 lead.
“We opened them up several times, but our execution was poor and our skill set was poor. They were full of spirit and defended really well.
“Our execution is something we’ve got to work on for the Wigan game, but we just didn’t get to see our starting 13 towards the end because we never got the chance to put them back on.”
