For the second time in successive matches Barrow were undone by a stoppage time goal.
Last week Colchester grabbed an equaliser in the sixth minute of added time to deny the south Cumbrians a win.
This time, at Holker Street, it was a goal in the fifth minute of time added on which earned Newport County all three points from the subsequent 1-0 win.
Barrow had been reduced to ten men on 81 minutes when recent recruit Rory Feely was sent-off for a tackle on Adam Lewis.
It had been a fairly even game throughout with very little to choose between the sides, although Offrande Zanzala had scored in the first minute only to be ruled offside.
The nearest Barrow had come to breaking the deadlock was when Elliot Newby saw a second half shot deflected inches past the post.
It had looked an all-the-way 0-0 stalemate until the 95th minute when defender Mickey Demetriou was in the right place to head in the winner for County.
After their early season exploits Barrow are now 12th in the table, four points outside the play-off positions but it was a vital win for Newport who move up to 18th, eight points clear of the drop zone.
