Carlisle United earned a good point at AFC Wimbledon to maintain their challenge for an automatic promotion place.
The fact the game finished goal-less was down to solid defence from both sides and a couple of outstanding saves by the respective goalkeepers.
Carlisle boss Paul Simpson went to win the game, but was also set up not to lose it, not wanting to back up Saturday’s defeat to Harrogate with another reversal.
Wimbledon have now gone give games unbeaten at home and they started really positively with Carlisle having to be on their guard.
Good skills by new signing Diallang Jaiyesimi won Wimbledon a corner, which would have dropped in the far corner but for an excellent clawed save from Tomas Holy.
The visitors also went close from a corner and it was the Dons keeper Nik Tzanev who did well to turn aside a clever flick-on from top scorer Kristian Dennis.
Joe Garner, who had started up-front with Dennis, wasn’t far away from another set-piece as Carlisle pushed for the vital opening goal.
Gradually it was Carlisle who started to take control of the game and they had opportunities with Paul Huntington shooting just over, while Tzanev made the best save of the game, a magnificent stop to deny Callum Guy.
Then late on in stoppage time Josh Davison almost stole it for Wimbledon when he flicked on a shot from distance by Lee Brown which was only just wide.
