Workington Reds’ bid to bounce straight back after a disappointing home draw with Ramsbottom on Tuesday have been hit by injuries.
Dav Symington missed the 1-1 stalemate with struggling Rammy because of a stomach strain and is unlikely to be back for today’s clash with Bootle.
Two players limped out of the action on Tuesday – mid-fielder Brad Hubbold and defender Sam Smith – while record scorer Scott Allison was unable to continue after being brought down for a last minute penalty.
Reds won 1-0 at Bootle earlier in the season when Jordan Palmer scored a last minute winner. He has been allowed to go back to former club Carlisle City on dual registration but might be recalled as Workington go for a League double.
Hubbold suffered a calf injury early in the game and looks extremely doubtful although manager Danny Grainger will give as long as possible to all his injured players.
Grainger blamed himself for dropping two points against Ramsbottom because of changing formation and personnel.
The draw against the bottom side was compounded by leraders also dropping home points in a 1-1 draw with Witton Albion. Their other main rivals Leek Town won 1-0 at Kidsgrove Athletic.
Today’s clash with Bootle is Reds game in hand on Macclesfield who don’t have a game this afternoon while Leek go to Prescot Cables.
